New Construction Custom Home
We had worked with these clients for over fourteen years; so, when the time came for a life change, they immediately called us. They were now empty nesters and ready to move back to the city. We discussed their ideas and worked together to create a dream oasis where they could entertain and work. With her being an art historian and collector, and he a professional jazz musician and instructor, they had a strong desire to have spaces that catered to their studies and showcased their eclectic collection. The home has two offices and a music room for entertaining.
The clients desired to have many eco-friendly attributes dominate the house. Every door, and the majority of cabinets, were built from architectural artifacts and reclaimed lumber. This concept was carried through in custom furniture, garden gates, and architectural columns and balconies. Antique light fixtures, area rugs and furniture dominate and enrich the space. Fixtures that were not antique, were generally made by hand, allowing us to provide rarity and beauty. Solar panels were added to supplement their energy needs. Recycled paper countertops were used in the laundry room, in keeping with the environmental theme.
